Welcome to JACAP

JACAP was established in March 1998 and commenced operations in January 1999 as a national non profit organisation to take over the operations of the local Performing Right Society London (PRS) agency in the collective administration of music copyright in Jamaica. JACAP was the second recognised national collecting society to be established in the English speaking Caribbean.

To commemorate its 10th year in operation, JACAP at its 10th Annual General Meeting held on Sunday 22nd November 2009 at the Knutsford Court Hotel, honoured its founding members who have remained devoted contributors to the development of JACAP.

Its members who are composers, authors and music publishers own JACAP. Members of JACAP entrust the rights in the performances and recordings of their music to JACAP, consequently, it is imperative that JACAP understands and meets the needs of its members and offers the highest possible service standards.
  1. To own, manage, administer and grant licences for the exercise of any of the rights subsisting in the works of the members.
  2. To collect and to receive the royalties and any other monies payable for the exercise of such rights and remedies and their enforcement.
  3. To participate in public awareness campaigns.

JACAP offers services to local, regional and foreign rights owners of musical works (i.e. composers, authors and music publishers) and to music users (i.e. persons and entities) that publicly perform, broadcast, diffuse by cable or record music or authorize the public performance, broadcast and recording of music.
